FCC
AGM 2021
Because
of COVID-19 restrictions, this was held
via a Zoom call on Sun 7th Feb. online.
All members were invited and approximately
22 members attended which is more than we
normally get when the AGM is held in person.
Rob Miller reviewed the major activities
of the club during the foreshortened season
in 2020.
A
new Committee was elected and the officer
roles will be update on the committee page
shortly.
Two
senior officers of the committee have retired
after many years of service: Ian Edwards
our Secretary and Peter Bromley our Head
Groundsman and Fixtures Secretary.
Ian has produced the minutes of the AGM
and there will be a link to the PDF file
HERE soon.
Completion
of Sport-England Flood relief project at
FCC in October 2020
In
the Spring of 2020, clubs could apply for
a grant to help recover facilities from
the months of rain over the winter. Ferring
CC was successful in this and during the
first Covid-19 lockdown from March onwards,
started to renovate the damaged square.
Significant
amount of materials were purchased along
with some additional equipment. Over several
months the square was renovated using seed,
loam, fertiliser and levelled using a tandem
roller generously supplied by Arun District
Council.
Renovation
of most of the square was completed by early
July when restrictions were lifted. Home
matches resumed in August through to mid
September when the remainder of the work
was completed as part of the annual end
of season workpartes.
In October
all the budget had been accounted for, a
completion report was submitted and sign-off
received from Sport-England.
Ferring
CC would like to thank Sport-England, all
our suppliers and especially Arun Distinct
Council parks department for all their support
and help. We hope that the works performed
will put the club in a better position to
prepare for whatever 2021 brings.
Last
game of the season

End
of Season Workparties
As usual,
these were planned for three weeks at the
end of the season to ensure autumn renovations
have a chance of completing before the ground
temperature drops and the rain arrives.
These
were planned on Sundays 13th, 20th and 27th
September, weather permitting.
The
first two Workparties had a poor turn out
which made the work particularly hard, so
we brought the third one on 27th Sept back
to start at 09:00 hrs. There was just about
enough support to enable us to erected the
perimeter fencing.
Thanks
to Alan Francis , Iain Wardley, Cameron
Baldock, Chris Tams, Chris Bradley, Craig
Burgess and of course our head groundsman
of 32 years, Peter Bromley.
A picture
of the perimeter fencing in progress and
some of the workparty pegging down the wire.

Another
picture of the "hard core" team
from the first weekends work, Bill Isham
is missing from the picture (camera shy)
but the others were Rob Miller, Alan Francis,
Peter Bromley, Chris Tams & Chris Bradley,
note the average age !

Revised
fixture list for 2020
Due to some
of the Covid-19 restrictions being lifted
in July 2020, we had to revise our fixture
card from 17th July onwards HERE
Memories
of FCC matches last Season (2019)

last years matches can be found on the Club

Each month

hope they bring back some happy memories:

Suspension
of all cricket during 2020 (March 2020)
Following
Government and ECB directives in March 2020,
All club cricket related activities were
suspended until further notice, these included
all training, match preparation, fixture
planning and matches.
There was
significant flood damage to the ground and
particularly the square over the winter
of 2019 and into spring 2020.
We successfully
applied for a grant from Sport England.
Once the government directives change and
funds have been made available, there will
be a plan to purchase and implement the
remedial work on the square. This is dependant
on when restrictions are lifted, ADC are
able to recommence work on the outfield
and supplies and facilities become available
to plan our work.
Its likely
to take several months to implement the
work once all the requirements for safe
working are met, we will supply updates
on the status when we know more.
We thank
all the VP's, Players and friends of our
club for the support we have had whilst
we attempt to keep the club going in these
challenging times - thank you.
